A few years back, ZTE was all about a GSM and technological manufacturer and earned an unusual name for its self worldwide. But, in 2012 the company thought of manufacturing its very first smartphone under the name of its subsidiary Nubia Technology that focused on making exclusive, yet power-packed smartphones at reasonable prices and look where that approach has brought them today. However, in 2017 ZTE reduced its stake in Nubia to 49.9 % and gave up on its full control. Recently, has launched another new smartphone in the Chinese market named as ZTE Nubia Z18 mini. But, to our surprise, you cannot find anything mini on this smartphone because of its incredible specs and features.

What the smartphones come with a powerful processor is wrapped in an IPS LCD with a big screen size of 5.7-inches. The 845 chipset in a Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon will power the Smartphone. You can capture decent pictures in low light through the dual lens, and the overall performance is also increased. It also has an Octa-core processor and Adreno 506 GPU which can boost up the gaming performance. The users can play the high-end games without any crashes or lags. The device run out of the box with Android 8.0 Oreo.

Design:

The ZTE Nubia Z18 mini sports has a beautiful body design which features both the glass and Aluminium alloy in its design. The dimensions are 148 mm x 70.6 mm x 7.6 mm with 153 grams in weight, and it is available in the color variants like Black, Gold-Gold, White, Champagne, Blue, and violet.

Display:

The device offers 80% screen to body ratio on its front end and is almost bezel-less. It comes with a beautiful 2.5D curved glass and has corning gorilla glass protection making it resistant to scratches. The measure of the display is around 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 Pixels and 424ppi density.

Hardware and performance:

On the hardware part, the ZTE Nubia Z18 Mini comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC paired with RAM of 6GB capacity. The battery is non-removable with a capacity of 3,450 mAh, and a fingerprint sensor is provided for security, and it has a 4G data support. It has a NeoSmart AI which is provided along with a dedicated voice button which is designed by ZTE.

To ensure excellent access to the device, the Qualcomm SoC is paired with 6GB of RAM. There is a fingerprint sensor placed at the back for security purpose along with the facial unlocking feature. An AI assistant is present onboard which is interestingly found in ZTE. This is referred as the NeoSmart AI, and a dedicated voice button is also included.

Software:

Coming to the software department, the device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo which is wrapped out-of-the-box under the NeoVision 7.0 UI.

Camera and storage:

There is an impressive dual rear camera of 24-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary sensor of 5-megapixel. It has an LED flash along with the other regular features on it. The excellent selfie camera can be used to take snaps with 8-Megapixels. The field of view is about 80-degree wide-angle.

The Face recognition feature is present in the front camera which is one of the security features apart from the fingerprint sensor. The onboard storage of the device is based on the model and how much you can afford to pay. The storage is about 64GB and 128GB in the device, and you can use the MicroSD card and expand up to 256GB.

Connectivity:

The connectivity options will include dual-SIM card slots, 4G support, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/ n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou Navigation.

Price and availability:

This phablet is also being launched in China. Based on the internal storage of the product, you can choose from any of the two variants which are available. The price of the 64GB option at RMB is 1,799 (Rs 18,600 approximately), while the 128GB variant is priced at RMB 2,099 (Rs 21,700 approximately).

The buyers can select the color from the variants which include white, black, purple, light blue, and pink. However, we cannot even guess about the availability of this smartphone in the international markets.

The ZTE Nubia Z18 carries an expensive price tag of up to 350 Euros or 24000 INR. For that price, the device offers a RAM of 6 to 8 GB. It also has the options for 64/128GB internal memory. The Nubia z18 will not support MicroSD card so that the users cannot extend the memory to plug in the card. The Smartphone will tout a reversible connector of Type-C 1.0 USB so that you can charge up your devices. The capacity of the battery is about 3350 mAh with a quick 4.0 fast charging Li-Poly battery.
