MOTOROLA MOTO M Review

Motorola is famous for launching midrange smartphones that are high on specs but not high on the budget, which are very well optimized devices that are easy and fun to operate. They give us the best android experience because all moto devices run on stock android said to be the best of android and another plus point of Moto is all of its lineups get timely and very fast android updates even before Samsung.

In the mid of November, Moto announced that they will be launching another smartphone in their segment with its own uniqueness and identity which will be different from all previous Moto devices. The company has named it the MOTOROLA MOTO M 4G PHABLET‘ which will be a Unimetal design body one of its kind for Moto because the design of this smartphone will be different than all of its predecessors.

So let’s continue with the review of Motorola Moto 4G Phablet.

Design:

Design of Motorola M 4G Phablet
Sleek metal finish in Moto M

Motorola has always been keen with designs and makes beautiful devices such as MOTO Z which is one of the prettiest smartphones on the market. With its first all-metal body phone, Motorola has very much to show after being criticised for plastic buttons and low-quality back panels which were found in the previous Moto devices

Talking about MOTO M, I have to say the designing team of Motorola has done its homework on designing and placement of keys when they were making this device because this is by far the most premium smartphone by Motorola on par with Moto Z in terms of design and you will certainly love to hold it in your palm

The Motorola Moto M has a sleek metal finish with round corners and a very premium overall look which makes this device exceptionally good looking and appealing.

Display:

Motorola has been good with their display quality so far. So, is the case with the MOTO M. It comes with a 5.5″inch Full HD(1920x1080p) display with 401 pixels per inch density and a 2.5D curved glass which is really good and with good vibrant colors that are sharp and bright with great viewing angles.

Hardware:

The Motorola Moto M is powered by a very powerful MediaTek Helio p15 chipset which is the successor of the p10 found on many flagships. Moto M comes with MediaTek Helio P15 2.2GHz, Octa Core processor powered by Mail-T860 GPU with 4GB ram and 32GB of internal storage.

Motorola has always been a performer with lightning fast smooth transitions that are lag free. And, the same goes for Moto M this device can run High-end games with ease and you will not see any signs of lacking in terms of performance.

Camera

Moto M Camera review
16MP Rear & 8 MP Front Camera

Motorola smartphones are always a package with great features and low cost. They even offer great camera quality at such low rates which are very good.

The Moto M sports a 16 mega Pixel rear facing camera which has features like autofocus, face detection, dual tone LED flash. On the front, we have a massive 8 megapixel which is the best front facing camera till date by Motorola.

The Motorola Moto M sports a classy 16MP rear-facing camera with phase-detection autofocus system. This PDAF technology ensures that when you shoot a moving subject, it will stay in focus. This advanced focus system utilizes on-sensor phase pixels which help in fast determination of subject distance and quickly adjust the focus as it moves across the frame.

Software

Most of you might have already guessed and as I previously told that Motorola has a stock android OS which is loved by many smartphone users, including myself. It comes with Android 6.0.1 marshmallow out of the box which most likely can be upgraded to 7.0 after a few months of its launch.

Battery

The Motorola Moto M 4g Phablet is a heavy performer and heavy performance requires a slightly more amount of battery. And, here we have a 3050 mAh battery backing the Moto M for lasting all day long. It also supports USB type C means it will even support quick charge which is very important for a smartphone these days.

OTHER IMPORTANT FEATURES

  • Hybrid Sim Slot

The Moto M comes with a hybrid sim slot which means you can either put two sims in that slot or one sim and an external SD card in the second sim slot which can further be expanded up to 128 GB especially for those who carry a large amount of data on their smartphones.

  • Improved Finger Print Sensor

Motorola has been seriously criticised for its unusual front fingerprint sensor which looks rather improper and insignificant and many users have been saying to either remove it or change its locality or style. Moto has finally listened to them now the Moto M has a Fingerprint scanner located on the back panel which is the best placement for a fingerprint scanner.

  • Dolby Atmos Sound

The Moto M comes with a great Dolby atmos sound output enhancement which was also found in Lenovo K4, K5 Note and this is a great news for users because this Atmos helps your device to create loud and clear sound output.

  • Other Features

The Motorola Moto M is power packed with features which are rather important nowadays.

It supports all network types including 2G,3G,4G and other features like Alarm, Bluetooth, Browser, Calendar, Fingerprint Recognition, Fingerprint Unlocking, GPS, MP3, MP4, People, Video call, Wi-Fi are also present

Talking about the sensors. Ambient Light sensor, E- Compass, Gravity Sensor, Gyroscope, Proximity Sensor are present in this device

Moto M Price & Moto M Release Date

Moto M Release Date
Amaging Moto M recently launched in Dec 2016

Motorola is a brand that has a smartphone for every price range starting from 150$ to 500$ and even more. But, what it lacked was a mid-range power packed device which costs less than the Moto Z but a slight above Moto G4 and here we have it the Moto M whose launch was pre-planned by Moto and has been released in China in the month of November which is said to be launched in other states up by Dec 2016

The Moto M has been launched in China at the price of 1999 Chinese Yuan, approximately $ 290 when we convert it into dollar which makes it a mid-ranger smartphone.

Pros & Cons

So here’s the final conclusion with the pros and cons of the Motorola Moto M 4G phablet

Pros

  • Beautiful Metal Unibody Design
  • Helio P15 SoC offers 10 % performance improvement over the previous P10 SoC
  • Rear-mounted Fingerprint identification sensor

Cons

  • Very small 1.0-micron pixels which may result in impaired image quality and low-light performance
  • Moto is still giving Marshmallow instead of Nougat 7.0 which can avail but Moto is avoiding it which is a bit of disappointment
  • Low on battery when compared to its competitors and other Moto devices

Final Verdict:

The Motorola Moto M is a great smartphone for heavy users who want their phone to do lots of tasks at the same time and stress it to its maximum extent which Moto M certainly does without a sweat. But the camera you get here is ok not so good so for those who want a device that can capture great images, especially in low lights Moto M is not for you.
