You may have a nice watch and smartphone which is water resistant, but it is not necessary that it is also waterproof. But if you have a waterproof smartphone or watch then it must be water resistant. Now you must be thinking how is that possible so that why today we are going to discuss on this topic. So, let’s jump on the “Difference Between Water Resistant and Waterproof.”
Today into the electronic world these three terms are very popular Water-resistant, Water-repellent, Waterproof. First of all, let’s take a look at the definition of these three words:
- Water-Resistance: Able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely
- Waterproof: Impervious to water
- Water-repellent: not easily penetrated by water, especially as a result of being treated for such a purpose with a surface coating
Now you know that what is the primary difference Between Water Resistant and Waterproof, now let’s get to know about more.
Water-Resistance is the lowest level of the water protection. Many of the smartphone companies have launched their smartphone labeled as Water-Resistance, but user thinks that they are also waterproof. The device which is water resistant built in such a way that it is more difficult for water to get inside of it, all the component is covered by the special coating. They are covered in such a way that it can only hold the water for a limited time. So next time if someone says it’s phone is water-resistance then you know that it’s not waterproof.
As per the name waterproof is the top level protection of the water. If a smartphone is waterproof, then it must be water-resistance. The smartphone which is waterproof is made of the material who resist the water. To make a smartphone waterproof, it takes a long process which is called Waterproofing. It is the process of making an all the component waterproof so that it remains relatively unaffected by water under specified conditions. As far as rating concern is the Ingress Protection Rating Scale (IP Code). This is the standard way to scale any product how much it is protected from the water. It assigns items a rating from 0-8 in terms, the value 0-8 shows the time & depth of the water level.
Water-Repellent is just a step up from water-resistant. If a gadget is labeled as water-repellent, it repel water from it. If a device is water-repellent, then it very high coated with some form of thin-film nanotechnology, whether that is on the inside, outside, or both. This coating will repel the water and has a much better chance of standing up to water than your average device.
So guy’s now you know the Difference Between Water Resistant and Waterproof Smartphone or Watch. If any of your friends say that his phone is water resistance so it can easily survive into the water, then make it clear them there is a big difference between waterproof and water resistant.
